Materials Research
Task to complete:
This is a detailed look at possible materials/components that you could use in the manufacture of your product (in industry). You will need to describe the properties and state if that meets your requirements, why or why not and which will you select and why are they selected over others.
Teacher Instruction:
Watch the following tutorial where you will be talked through what you need to do
Checkpoints:
-
Have you identified a range of materials/components?
-
Have you evaluated them against your requirements?
-
Have you stated which ones you have selected and why?
GAP Attainment:
Use the following table to understand what potential grade of work you will produce. Try to aim for the top grade!
GREEN- Grades D-E
You will have identified relevant materials. You will have identified where you sourced your research. You will have identified and justified your final choice for materials for the main aspects of your design.
AMBER- Grades B-C
You will have compared relevant materials. You will have identified where you sourced your research. You will have identified and justified your final choice for materials for each aspect of your design.
PINK- Grades A*-A
You will have tested and compared a range of relevant materials. You will have identified where you sourced your research. You will have identified and justified your final choice for materials for each aspect of your design.
