Ergonomics & Anthropometrics

Task to complete:

Describe the relevant ergonomic factors you will need to consider in your design. Identify the key anthropometric data and show the measurements. You may need to carry out primary research as well as considering average data. Ensure that you evaluate both sections linking them to how this information would support solving your design problem (or not).

Teacher Instruction:

Watch the following tutorial where you will be talked through what you need to do

Checkpoints:

  • Have you considered male and female users

  • Have you included anthropometric data that is directly related to our user group?

  • Have you included data that is relevant to using your product?

  • Have you addressed all health and safety issues with the use of the product?

  • Have you evaluated the data you have identified?

GAP Attainment:

Use the following table to understand what potential grade of work you will produce. Try to aim for the top grade!

GREEN- Grades D-E

You will have identified general data for ergonomics and/or anthropometrics. You will have explained using general comments how it will be useful to your future designing.

AMBER- Grades B-C

You will have identified relevant and general data for both ergonomics and anthropometrics. You will have explained how it will be useful to your future designing.

PINK- Grades A*-A

You will have identified relevant data for both ergonomics and anthropometrics. You will have explained how it will be useful to your future designing.
